The course “Statistical Mechanics in Brief” is an introductory level course starting with basic thermodynamics. Students are expected to learn the fundamentals of thermodynamics, some basics of the theory of probability, kinetic theory of gasses, classical statistical mechanics, quantum many-particle systems, and phase equilibria. Specific emphasis will be given on magnetic systems as one of the active research directions.
